I had a lot of expenditures for the exams texts, I would like to have more facility to follow the courses and more help from the university to find a room.

Leuvn is an international city, the university is used to foreigners. I don't have any suggestions because it's perfect in this way, you are indipendent but you know that you can count on the host staff university's help.

I wish I had known how the system worked here. I would not have studied here if I had known how bad the quality of academics are here. If you are an exchange student, this university is great because you will have little to no work, and consequently, more time to travel. If you want to actually do a degree here, don't come here.

We had a term-long mandatory course in Elementary Dutch twice a week with a couple of cultural trips to different cities, where we were forced to use Dutch. Since we were living in the Flemish culture, it was much easier to get used to hearing the language and to practicing it. On the other hand, you would be perfectly fine with English since the majority of the population speaks it fluently.

Almost all Belgian students can speak Dutch, French, English and German. Spanish is quite popular as well, so there are no communication problems. In Leuven, given its difficult past with the French speaking community, French is almost never heard in public places. Leuven offers an incredibly good opportunity for foreigners to learn Dutch (the first course is free for Erasmus students!!!).
