Keep a good attitude during the 8 month long winter. The rain may get you down, but when summer hits Everything is green and wonderful to look at from the library where you will be studying for your June exams.

people know english everywhere, you dont really need Dutch, so a lot of people dont even try to learn it - local people also dont expect you to speak dutch, so i spoke english most of the times, but still i learned a lot by listening and reading - its really good to have passive knowledge (and also for some train-personell - they dont always understand english taht well)

I had a litile difficulty at first, but after some friends had hepled me on how to learn the language and culture, everything was smooth sailing. I still remeber them vividly. For foreigners who will study at KUL, my advise is--if you want to survive, THINK BELGIAN!DO NOT TRANSLATE! MINGLE WITH TH EPEOPLE AND LEARN THEIR CULTURE. THEY LOVE IT IF YOU KNOW THEIR CULTURE!
