if you like to stay in a small student town, then this city is perfect for you, if you like a lot of diversity regarding nightlife, shopping, ... then its probably better for you to choose a bigger city, leuven is really small, but its fantastic, and life there is like living in a big family

The room was very well located, close to the university. The price was perhaps too high for the facilities I got.

There are some pubs for international students like "Wink" and "Geckoos". However, I recommend trying "Dutch places" like "Het vliegend varken" or "De Verbeelding". The visit to the Stella Artois factory in the very Leuven is highly recommended. If you really like beer, then make Belgian friends and ask them about the "cantus". This traditional ritual from the middleages is something no student should miss!
