University of Durham

A really good university experience overall. Durham is a beautiful city to grow up in and the atmosphere created within it is very cosy and comforting. 

Any complaints that you may have about the nightlife being poor (although you come to love it for this) you can resolve with having Newcastle 10 minutes away by train. 

The general student population is very white and very posh, so bear this in mind when applying. That said, there are very down to earth students there and you will be able to make friends if rich and white isn't your vibe.

Durham is an incredibly prestigious university, and so the level of teaching is high. Staff are often reliable and will help you when you have a problem. The support system provided to students is extensive should you wish to use it. 
However, the lack of support during year abroad planning had been surprising and disappointing, and means many students leave after the second year to embark on their year out without a concrete plan.
