The Netherlands is a country where people speak very good english. Therefore they don't expect or encourage you to speak their language. I had no real opportunity to learn dutch.

Immigration corrspondence was entirely in Dutch....Significant problems appeared. The University was of little help, and at times counter productive, in solving these problems.
