Personal spending habits
Food, acommodation and nightlife are cheaper than in Norway. There was an increased need for staying in touch with people, therefore more in telephone. I traveled I lot more than at home. So much more that the overall expenses were larger than at home.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I like my living situation, and after seeing the other student housing units, I would take my studio in a heartbeat.

I'm not too sure how the housing system works since I received considerable help from my host counselor. Overall, I believe it is very difficult to find good housing in Mannheim.

Personal comments
The housing contract is tricky, watch out for housing period in the contract (usually longer than a semester) and departure details, as no rent refund is possible and significant fines are deducitble from the room deposit.

Good academic level, but very poor experience beyond this

Overall
Most professors do not care about students at all. German students take very few courses, but if you are an international student, then you need to take more and the organization of exams is extremely inconvenient. If you have more than three courses, it is likely that you will need to take two in the same day and probably all in the same week. The administration is very bad and you will need to wait for your grades at least one month and a half (if not 3 months as it was my case)

PLEASE GO TO OTHER UNIVERSITY IF YOU WANT TO DO AN ERASMUS
