Unfortunately we spent a lot of time at the Irish Bar. The Nitelife outside that wasn't great in Dortmund. We did make the effort and go out with German students to their "locals" but it was never as much fun as the Irish bar!!

In my case it was more of a cultural experience. I had spend up to 1.5 years in German speaking countries before this. I gained more from experiencing another university life than actually improving my language skills

At first i was slightly apprehensive in conversing in German but in no time my confidence picked up and through plenty of practice i improved a great deal.
