Apartments can be quite cheap if you find the right place. Our apartment was overlooking the beach which is why we paid more than other people €270 per month where others found apartments for €180 per month, but we paid for the location.

The university has a special office which helps foreign students to find accomodation. The best option is to get there early in September when you can take your pick from all the apartments available, we went at the end of september when it was more difficult to find apartments.

The Bachelor dregree of Biochemistry in the University of the Basque Country is held in Bilbao. A perfect city to live as a student.
Get there early. You will miss out on all the initiation week and meeting everybody who's just arrived, also accomodation is easier to get when you're there early too

Buy a bike - it's the best way to get around the city, always ask for the student rate on the bus- it's much cheaper. The basque language is not an issue, people are bilingual and most speak spanish normally. If you are friendly to them, they will be friendly back.

Pourquoi?
Sharing appartment teachs you much more about the culture, society, etc. If you share with local students they help you to know the best places, at the same time you avoid the biggest problem for Erasmus students: not to mix-up with local students.

Pourquoi?
I like to live in an apartment because then you have all the accomodation you need.Maybe I would try to find an apartment with native Spanish speakers.

I got a list with apartments and rooms available from the university but they don't offer you any further help.
The rooms of the university are way to expensive.
