you have to get used to the catalan mentality but as you live in Barcelona you don't mind a little patriotism in your university.

Course recommendations
Watch out ! The university is "autonomous", it was created to promote the catalan language & culture, so most of the classes are in catalan. If you plan to learn Spanish, you won't have much choice among the classes given there. Many teachers will tell you that they'd rather teach you in French or English, and organize a special class especially for foreign students just after the "regular" class in Catalan, than use Spanish. Beware, then, and try to check that the classes that interest you most are given in Spanish. This university is desperately trying to label itself "international", and has many exchange agreements with foreign universities, but is also eager to promote catalan. It is kind of locked up in its own contradiction.

- beware of the location: twenty kms from the center of the city (Barcelona) - the importance of catalan speaking. It could be very stressful during a course very difficult.

To be cool in any situation: it's no use in being angry. See the minute you was very angry: it's a lost minute.

I would choose another one beacuse this is far from BCN and because here catalan language is more used then in other universities; beside this I have to say that some teachers were very nice and helpfull
