If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because I consider myself very independent... And I like to have a space of my own... Althougt I recognize that living with other people would have helped to enjoy of different experiences... But right noe I'm working on my personal growth.

Its quite useful when you know where to stay/live before you go to BCN as I found it really hard to find a nice place to share with people! They rent flats I couldnt imagine they exist! According to my experience a nice room (clean but tiny) will cost you minimum 300 Euro- if less you are lucky!

Take in mind that local language is not spanish but Catalan, so if you plan to attend the UAB it will happen to you as it was for me that you will have classes in catalan; this may be shocking, but you will see that teachers will try (at least some of them( to help. BUt do not ask them to make the class in spanish; since their language is catalan. Just try to see if you can pick only classes that are given in spanish, check this out before you start the course: go to see the professors and ask them.

The most relevant problem to international students is the catalan language; is your own choice if you choose to be in Barcelona you have to deal woith it; personally I end up writing my tesis on Catalan culture, and to me it wa very interesting; I also lived in Barcelona during 3 additional years so catalan identity is something I had to learn.

The accomodation offered by the uni is expensive and the main problem is that you have to share your bedroom. Plus, the Universitat Autonoma is very far from BCN centre, not very convenient!

ASK for information. My experience is that it wont come to you automatically, if you ask and search however, people will be very helpful.

Thius may sound bad, but I would recommend you to ask your teachers to sign out somewhere saying you've been to their classes and passed the exam. I'm having troubles because a teacher lost my exam and I have no way to prove that I've done it!

I would recommend you not to pay too much attention to the expences. I mean, save where you can save (food, housing, etc), but do not keep yourself from traveling, going out and stuff like that. Don't fall in love (lol) and do not stay at home!!! You'll regret it, that's for sure!
