Have money to spend, don't always be travelling, try to see the city and get to know people at the University so that you feel very comfortable with your surroundings.

Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant

Personal spending habits
Food because the basic life means are overall more expansive in Germany than in Portugal. Secondly, because my parents did not have have me for during quite some time and needed to make more phone calls. Thirdly, housing because when I am in Portugal i do not need to pay for that. Finally, all these costs made me spend much more money than of course in my own country.
