Personal comments
restaurants:
- l'Académie
- Café Lola Rosa
Clubs:
- Café Campus (the best! on Tuesdays!)
- House Niteclub (free entry with passes from McGill's MISN office on Thursday and Sunday)
events:
- Habs game!!! (Habs = the nickname of the local hockey team, the Montréal Canadiens) don't miss the chance to see a game at the always sold-out Bell Centre, it's amazing and Canada at its best!
places:
- Mont Royal is the best place to hang out and offers spectacular views
- Vieux Montréal might be a little bit touristic but is still a beautiful place with lovely cobblestone streets and ancient buildings
- Olympic Stadium and Parc, impressive architecture
- Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Canada's only Formula One track

NY, Boston, Toronto, Quebec, and Ottawa are all within travel distance and excellent weekend trips. The nature and scenery are well worth a trip, places for hiking are easily accessible

Academic
Course recommendations
very hands-on, profs like to directly interact with students and involve them in discussions
continuous assessment through essays, papers, group projects, presentations etc., really annoying for continental-European students not used to this form of assessment
no blocked seminars since exchange students get the same treatment as regular students

BECAUSE IT WAS NECESSARY TO KEEP IN TOUCH BY PHONE. HOUSING WAS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN MY HOST COUNTRY BECAUSE I HAD TO PAY A GOOD PLACE NEAR THE UNIVERSITY, AND IT WAS RENTED. NIGHTLIFE WAS LESS EXPENSIVE BECAUSE I DIDNT USE TO GO OUT AT NIGHT AND TRAVEL WAS LESS EXPENSIVE BECAUSE I HAD NOT MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO TRAVEL.
