If you're Foucauldian but couldn't go to France, please come here! In addition, for whom interest in Women's Studies, this is the best place you should go.

To be honest, I was glad that I didn't know too much about Lancaster/England in general. Each new thing that I learned was all a part of the process.

I had a great experience at Lancaster. They really love their international students, so you do not feel like you don't belong (after all, I think about 40% of the school is from abroad). It was one of the best schools for Linguistics and I really couldn't have asked for anything more! I think anyone would say that about wherever they were.

Don't segregate yourself! Meet the locals. Go home with them and meet their families (esp. for the holidays).

I've just finished my first year of my undergrad degree at Lancaster Uni and I've loved it. The campus is beautiful and relaxing even in the midst of exam season (a short walk on the woodland trail is perfect as a revision break). All the staff I've come across are invested in giving students the best opportunities possible and helping us prep for the future. There are lots of great societies for every type of person out there and lots of fun events put on by the student union. All in all I've found it a really easy place to just get stuck in and work hard on my degree whilst making a life for myself away from home.

I wish I had known...
I wish I'd been told the TRUTH about the art program before I'd left. I was continually told that classes would be a challenge, probably harder than at my home university. My non-studio classes were challenging, but not moreso than those at home. My art studio class was an utter joke.

If you are coming for language courses, this might be a good school for you. But make CERTAIN that you will be getting what you pay for. (ie, the same education the British students receive.)

I made some great friends and really enjoyed living in England. Lancaster seems like an ok university and I took some excellent classes there. However, I do feel that they misled me regarding the quality of art education I could expect to receive, and outright lied to me on several occasions. I did go on to receive my BFA elsewhere and am working on my master's; I must honestly say that the 'quality' of art education I received at Lancaster was sub-par.
