Personal comments
Books are far more expensive than in France (cf. French law on book prices) and not always available in the university libraries! Many computers available at university. Pay attention: in some banks, you need to pay to close your account before the end of the first year after its opening!

I enjoyed learning Dutch, but I also had the opportunity to become fluent in French while I was there because I took French courses that were French only, and all explanations were in Dutch. But I had no problems with the people becuase all educated people in the Netherlands speak English.

Try your best to learn Dutch. When traveling, and one has experience with the language, and you need help from strangers, it is much easier if you speak a little Dutch.

Academic
Course recommendations
I had a course about the Fifty years Cold War. It was the most objective course about two super powers. Coming from the United States, one would never get the opportunity to receive such an objective point of view about such an important time period in the world's history.
