Personal comments
My language skills improved because I had a constant contact with people from different countries and I could practice the language I learned in school with native speakers. It's a little embarrassing when you're not sure of your level, but helpful and fun because you learn not only the best pronunciation but also the slang.

The Uiversity is well organized for accomodation procedures, so you don't have to worry too much about it... I was very lucky because my student house was near the centre, but a lot of student houses are located very far! My advice is to send your application as soon as possible
