Business Administration at HU Berlin
Lena T
Germany, Undergraduate
Business Studies, 2018
Overall
Big courses with lots of students and sophisticated teachers. Teachers are real specialists in their topics. Several opportunities besides the subject of your studies, e.g. language and career courses and sports activities. Nice campus, that is separated in different parts that are in different areas of Berlin.

everyday you get more and more knowlegde regarding German language, however the German students don't show a big interest in communication with at first. Some courses were taken also in English, so it was good chance to improove both English and German

It was perfect, my main priority was to practise and improve my german before returning to complete my final year at university. Complete submersion is definitely the way forward, although if you are a complete beginner you would probably benefit from contact with your native language relitively frequently (to stop you feeling like you're dreaming all the time)

I chose to do an exchange year in the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin to improve my german. Arriving in Berlin, and getting the administrative tasks done wasn't very hard. Also getting in contact with my neighbors was pretty easy. The first time a difficulty occured was during the first week of lectures. But once the scientific jargon learned it all went OK

Studying abroad and moving in intellectual circles greatly improved my German. I have gained a greater understanding of the subtleties of the language as well as expanded my vocabulary. However, most importantly the experience gave me a confidence in my own ability to communicate in German, in all situations and under pressure.
