I would usually meet my friends at someone's dorm kitchen to drink a bit before going out, to save money. Then we often met at the Neckarmüller, the local brewery/bar, which also had a Biergarten in the Summer. We tried a few other places, but Neckarmüller was our usual spot.

WHO is great but sometimes getting a bus up there after a night of partying (Especially on weekdays) is a pain. Also, the Altstadt has amazing old apartments

The key here is getting lucky with good roomates. I was blessed with 4 out of 5 roomates being awesome. Some arent so lucky. Tuebingen is a very diverse place, so expect some culture clashing

Personal comments
Before the semester started, I had two months of intense German courses. My grammar was already very good, but I improved it and my vocabulary was greatly approved. I also had a television for the last three months, which helped a lot with vocabulary and slang.

Why?
After having lived in the dorms, I thought I would like to live with a family, so that I would use the language more, but now I am living with a German-speaking family in Switzerland, so I think in the future I would like to have an apartment.
