At the IECS about 20 % are internationals - and each of them has similiar problems. The community with the locals was great, we were soon integrated in spite of lack in french.

Courses were in English (or French if you choose to) and everyday life is in French. International students usually speak English between them.

in the beginning it was most difficult to understand young French people when they were talking slang, but you can get used to it pretty fast

Classes were tough at the beginning. My french was okay to get around, however with the speed at which people spoke, I looked clueless for a while, however,I passed all my course, and seeing as you were busy with french all the time, you pick it up very quickly.

make french friends, otherwise you'll learn only the half... Best is a French girl/boy-friend ;o))
