Opiniones de Volgograd State University (VSU)

Volgograd State University is a modern higher education institution founded in 1980. At present it has twenty-nine departments grouped within six "faculties" or divisions: Philology, History and Philosophy, Law, Economics, Mathematics and Physics. The University enjoys the benefits of its large world famous city environment and its access to the Volga -the most beautiful river in the European part of Russia. Since the year of its foundation Volgograd State University has provided higher education services to meet the needs of individuals and those of society at regional, national and international levels promoting excellence in education and research. Being a new type of University it offers distinctive programs along with a wide choice of traditional courses. The average age of the staff is 38, which enables the University to develop dynamically and keeps it open to innovations. Within the last two years the new specialties, such as World Economics, Philosophy, Religious Studies and Regional Studies were introduced. The University is actively engaged in research: it has four Boards that confer the Degree of Candidate of Sciences (corresponding to the US Ph.D. Degree) in Linguistics, Economics, History and Philosophy.
The University is only a forty minute bus ride from the center of Volgograd and its residence hall is a ten-minute walk from the classroom buildings.
