Local supermarkets are generally very expensive in comparison to big inner-city shopping malls. Usually, clothes shops offer discounts for students - watch out for them!

The student accomodation in the UK is really expensive compared to France- also you can't get "allocation" like in France (APL, ALS);
The food on the campus was pricy (for what it was) , probably becuse it's not subsidised. So it is better to buy your own and cook it...

I think it's good to open an account in england -it takes an effort, but then you can have a cash card and it will save you a lot of money (withdrawing cash from your home country is very expensive)

convenient food is cheaper than cooking for yourself but unhealthy on the long run. try to cook in a large group together so you can save money. vegetables and fruits are very expensive not to mention eating out.
