The only category in which I spent less were my phone calls - because I had no phone and I could communicate with everybody via email. The rest of it was expensive for me in general as I come from a post-communist country where the cost of living is not so high. As for accommodation it was about 10 times more although I had the cheapest one in town, drinks and parties aren't cheap either for the Finns themselves and I was definitely travelling more than at home because in 5 months I wanted to see everything around and went to neigbouring states as well.

It is definitely more advantageous to have a local bank account rather than the one at home because your home bank will charge you a fortune for the services.
