I am doing my Master at the moment, and I can tell that I will never forget this academic exchange year!
If you have this opportunity to go, don't think about anything else and book your tickets! I found my accomodation in 1 days, and I found a job and I didn't know how to speak the language when I arrived in the airport!:-) I met unforgettable people and my future husband!!!
However, you have to make sure that you take courses with groupwork! it's really important!

Personal comments
As I wrote earlier, the exposure to local students was rather limited. The same is true for interaction with other locals. And since the Yorkshire accent is quite a challenge to master, I don't think I can claim to be fluid in Yorkshire slang. Otherwise I experienced no difficulties.

Personal recommendation
Go. It may be that you are not quite satisfied with the way of being taught. But it really depends on you and the department you decide to study at. I would rate 4 out of 5 stars overall.

When you are there, you have to go Peak District. Don't miss the social clubs. If you have any questions you can always asked in the Union. Also the people living in Sheffield are very helpful.

Sheffield has plenty of nightclubs and bars, you just need to walk downtown on one of the main streets and drop in a place that looks appealing to you. I liked a place called the Swim-Inn, if I remember correctly. Besides off-campus spots, there are a few nice places on campus as well. And not to forget, all those theme-parties thrown by the Students' Union! The Union also arranges parties with all different kinds of music genres. The Union is good at spreading the word, so you will be sure to find the right happening for you.

Personal comments
The accomodation is all right when you know that you will stay here only for few months. You have your own room and share the kitchen and the shower. The cleaning is provided by a person from the university.
