Personal spending habits
The fees for food, telephone and accommodation in England are higher than those in China. Therefore, I spent more money on them. As for travel, it is easier for me to get visa of European countries in England than in China. So I have more chances to travel. Regarding with Nightlife, the nightlife is less interesting in England than in China, so I spend less time on it.

If you want decent food in england you pay what's asked, and accomodation is also sensibly more expensive than in france... Nightlife is ok though for what it costs there, in a student environment that is.

Buy a one day round trip to get there with the ferry and trash the way back, it(s cheaper than a one way journey. switch company on the way back because even months after they record the fact that you never came back and may charge you the difference

“Business & Management Student”
Zélia B
United Kingdom, Undergraduate
Business Studies, 2021
Overall
The University allows for a great student experience. Countless computer in the library and many across the faculties making it easy to access information and spend time between lectures either finishing assignments or relaxing. Most faculties have cafes and comfortable places to sit, some even outside which is great to breathe some fresh air after being in a closed auditorium with 300 other people.
Every time I needed help from the help desk (weren't many) I was helped and treated well.
Regarding the lecturers, most were easy to reach and open to help if needed. The course leader was really the sweetest lecturer (I also had her in the 1st year) and always replied to any emails within hours and she simply had the ability to make any subject interesting.
Student life is interesting, fellow students are also easy to approach and allow for a good studying environment.

Personal comments
I live with a British family. Therefore I have to communicate with them every day. Besides, I work as a volunteer for a local nursery school and all staff and children are local people, so I have to speak to them in English. As well in the university, I have to speak in English with my tutor and international students.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
From my point of view, there is nothing to compare with this type of living. First you are then really living in a country, you have to take care of things: bills, rent, landlord, plomber etc... Second you have more space and you fill yourself at home, not in a prison, like some campuses are. Third it is more easy to learn from your Roomates when you are sharing the same house. It makes you grow faster.

First Portmouth was a really nice town in front of the sea, very quiet in winter and really nice in spring, where the rent are not that expensive compare to the rest of the UK. There was a lots of opportunities for those who have taken some risks.
