The Bus Timetable at Newcastle and the fact that bus-drivers do go on strike at times.

Australians are friendly and helpful. Reach out and try to get to know the people around you. I am sure you'll learn alot from them. Actually, I still keep in touch with the friends I have made in Newcastle and Sydney.

That even though they speak English, they have different terms and phrases and it takes a while to catch on completely.

Spend as much time in Sydney as possible and also make time to travel up the coast and then to Alice Springs to see "the rock"!

If you like the beach, surf, and traveling it is for you. it is only 2 hr. car ride from sydney 3 hr. train ride

Don't hesitate on spending money when it comes to traveling around Australia and even to New Zealand and Thailand. I spent a lot of money, but I would do it all over again, it was WELL worth it.
