One way to save some money on food and day-to-day groceries is to always look for sales. Even small convenience stores have items on sale. A good way to save money at clubs and bars is to look for flyers that either get you in with cheap cover or even free. There are many students handing out flyers every day in school for different places so you can check them out. Also, inside clubs you can get certain drinks for a pound or on a 3-for-1 deal that can save you a lot of money.

I wish I had known...
I wish I had known how demanding my course would be! If you're interested in postgrad studies in the UK please make an in-depth research of the universities you'd like to study and ask for any information packs listing modules and course structure.

Leeds university is extremely vibrant and diverse and has a very good academic reputation. Teachers are friendly and easy to approach, however it's inherent in their teaching role to demand a lot of hard work on your part!

Go to Natwest if you dont have a UK bank account! They are very open and friendly and will spare you a lot of hassle! One branch is opposite Uni and there are plenty of cashpoints across the city. For accomodation advice visit unipol's website and finally take it easy when the workload starts building up and reward yourself with a coffee, drink or shopping spree! Leeds is a wonderful place to study and you will make many friends from all over the world.Hope this helps!

Just how hard it would be to leave. I had a great time and really managed to make some good friends in a short amount of time.

I loved Leeds Uni. The place is huge, and there is so much to see and do in Leeds. The Univeristy also has tons of fun and interesting classes, but the student body is pretty tight.

TRAVEL> The UK is close to everything. Go for St. Patrick's Day in Ireland, see some sheep in Wales, watch a bag piper in Scotland. Travel with a friend or two or alone, just get out there.
SCHOOL> beware that it is work, especially in the math and sciences.
PEOPLE> Everyone over there is a peach. Totally nice and totally helpful!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
More social then on campus living. Liked having cooking facilities and not having to rely on set dining hours.

Housing locations at Leeds vary greatly. I was less then a five minute walk to campus, while other housing options were 4 miles away or in dodgy areas. Montague Burton was the name of my flat complex and in my opinon is the best choice for a foreign student. It was close to campus, had laundry facilities on site, and each room had high speed internet access.

At night you have many places to go out with your friends. A meeting point for ERASMUS students was a pub called "The Eldon" close to the campus. Inside tha campus the meeting point is "The Old Bar" and in general that place. My favourity pub was "The Social" and old house in the way to Headingley, with vheap beer and nice atmosphere.... it was like to be in your own house.
In general Leeds has hundred of places to go out....and enjoy yourself in the night. If you want to dance...heaven & hell is a good place, althought you can find many new ones now.
Dont miss the different activities that the Leeds Film Festival runs during some days in October. And "the Cube" an open air Icerink during January and February in the Millenium Square. And the Open air Music Festival ...music in the streets that the BBC runs in Leeds and York during some days....in general..dont loose your time at home... enjoy about all Leeds is offering to you.

Just relax and let yourself go with the flow, England is a great country, I agree we are somehow different, but do not let these differences to spoilt your time there. Enjoy your stay and the country as much as you can.
