I wish I had known...
In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
I studied International Communications and can recommend it very much. Some of the mandatory courses were not that interesting, but other courses were excellent. Great social life with other international students.

The three architecture courses we had to take were well worth it!
Allow either a Friday or Monday off to allow students to travel more.

My study in Leeds was not necessarily to experience academia, it was more to experience the culture. It was well worth it!
Purchase Euro-rail passes prior to leaving the U.S.
If flying within the UK/Europe, purchase tickets over there and not in the U.S.
Some Cities/Areas worth seeing in England: London, Bath, Trent on Stoke (for pottery shopping), Lake District (beautiful)

i advice people to travel as much as they can because i didn't have so many chances. i would also recommend people to keep in touch with students that have had this experience before because they can help a lot.

Personal comments
I was a nice accomodation beacuse the host university offered to me some of them to choose, but i had to do it from Spain so i did not know how was. My room was small, and the appartment was a few dirty, but fro me this year was relly good so i did not think so much about the accomodation, i am just enjoy with everything. Now, if i think about an accomodation i prefer an private appartment or a house, but always sharing with other people.

Housing
Type of housing: university accomodation but not on campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I think sharing a house with other international students and british students would have made me more independent and would have impropved contacts! I remember the house-parties and they were great!

I liked it, it was a bit dissappointing that my preferences weren't really taken into account. And it was a shame that not all uni-accomodation had internet acces. For the rest Oxley was great, the surroundings were really nice, a lot of green, good bus connection, although the buses were never on time.

Where you go out will depend mainly on where you live. If your housing is in the city you are close to the clubs and pubs downtown. Near campus there are plenty of student dominated pubs with cheap drinks. Further north of campus in the Headingly area is throughly student dominated pubs. Night clubs are downtown, with one in the student union.
Try to get to a Leeds United match (even though they have been demoted!) or a rugby match, they are a nice change from a night drinking at the bars.
