SPecifically, the program I joined was aimed to graduate both in the UIC (getting the Master of SCience degree) and in my home University, joining a one year and a half program during which I took classes at my home University, as I were in UIC (the method was the one adopted in the host university, and the language spoken was strincly english, of course). At the end of the year, I prepared my thesis (about heterojunction bipolar transistors on compound semiconductor) and went to UIC in Chicago to defend it, as a regular american student. The experience was really interesting, I could learn really much more in depth than during the regular studies at home university, the class was small (we were few highly selectioned people) and the teacher could follow our work with much more attention. The thesis defence at UIC was hard, but rewarding, since the student can really explain and discuss his work in detail.

“UIC Review”

UIC is a joke! Four students were bullying, harassing, and stalking me while the university professors and staff would help them, cover up for them, and participate with them. The dean of students would not even take a complaint and the office of access and inequity would do nothing about it. The police would not even take a complaints. I lost my honors, was injured, lost graduate admissions in top programs, wrecked my senior year transcripts, had a bunch of goons put after me. I had to drop out of the University of Michigan graduate school because the school could not handle misconduct, and criminal activities originating from its campus. These students would openly bribe university staff to harass me. The school then tells me (an international student) to go do odd jobs to make up for my grade deficit so that I could be admitted into a graduate PhD program even though the school itself made it impossible to work or study after charging me nearly $50,000 that year. The school sabotaged and wrecked my transcripts. I really regret going there and I wish that I invested my career and money elsewhere. I had a 3.82 GPA at the end of my Junior year which significantly dropped. According to the school, life happened so they're not responsible for any thing even though it was the collective conduct of students, agents of the university (professors and staff) , and the negligence of administration? I was being attacked on school property and the school did everything to protect the people who were hurting me so they could keep engaging in their conduct. What a pathetic school! This university ruined my career. The school did not even offer me Pass/fail when its own members made it impossible to work or study to sabotage my grades and my career when the school offered similar remedial measures during covid just for attending classes online. Avoid this school at all cost!

I liked the experience a lot since I had the opportunity to experience "in practice" the huge amount of theory which is usually taught in the Italian academic world.
