Overall, Travel, Food, Telephone:
was more expensive than at home.
Nightlife, Housing:
was the same price as at home.
Accessibility of student needs
Second-hand household items
Personal comments
Housing has to be paid in two installments in advance for the whole term or year. You can try to save money by buying food seperately at the place where it's cheapest (e.g. noodles in the supermarket, vegetables at Granville Island market or in one of the small groceries on campus...).

"early arrival" exists, but I was told 4 days before the planned arrivel date that I didn't get it - so one shouldn't rely on it!

It would've been good to know that it's SO easy to settle in, 'cos I was nervous about going on exchange. Having said that I probably wouldn't have believed it.

Definately worth coming here. It's a world away from university back home. The campus is huge with lots to do, and Vancouver is an amazing city. You'll never get bored. The uni has excellent sports facilities, libraries and is very scenic.

If you want catered halls - Choose Place Vanier or Totem - they're also v. good for meeting lots of people
Gage Towers are self catered halls
Fairview is self catered too

It's a huge university with an international atmosphere. Campus life is somewhat limited, but travelling is easy and downtown Vancouver has a lot to offer, and so does the surrounding. If you are in the field of business studies, you will have a challenging and rewarding experience at one of Canada's best universities.

Having your own car, or having a friend that has one will make things a lot easier. It is a big country and a lot to see. Rentals are also an option, but is expensive if you are under 25.
