You’re not allowed to think for yourself. “Teachers” get angry when you ask questions and criticize them. A lot of the people that continue for a Ph.D. also feel that they don’t really have the adequate way of thinking for a Ph.D. and end up calling it a “Pht.”
Most teachers and students never finished the appropriate education in terms of high school (the preparatory scientific level) and they keep attacking you when you’re more creative, sensible, and critical, to the extent that you have to deal with physical violence to your person and your belongings by other students that later become staff.
The education is thus bad that over at Computer Science they don’t go into the science of computers and how the electrical components work. They don’t ask you to draw up logical circuits, but instead expect you to just know what it does, not how it does it. They teach you that the only way things can be made more efficient is by making the components smaller and don’t understand that there’s room for improvement in terms of the circuitry also, which there clearly is.
My “fencing master” also didn’t like people that think for themselves and when he saw that I did, he went against the written conventions (rules of fencing) and cheated. He tried to get me to join in on the handshaking goodfella kind of thing also, explaining that some bastard that would strike hard to teach me a lesson was his friend. The way I was treated in fencing exemplifies how I was treated in general and how life at this university and in The Netherlands works.
If you want qualified personnel, don’t come to my country. Those that are qualified don’t get the job, because we aren’t a part of the network. If you face problems in The Netherlands and you’re not Dutch, you’re best off running. Good luck.
