Personal comments
I learned a bit of Dutch, but it was quite hard, as everyone there speaks fluent English, and they reply back to you in English if they notice you're not local. Concerning my language of instruction, well, it was in English, and I'm totally bilingual in Spanish and English, as I grew up in the USA as a kid so nothing much to say there. I did, however, learn basic Italian with my friends, and then decided to take intensive courses in this language.

Personally, it was important to understand from the beginning that i would have had to change my way of thinking and behaving in the university environment. Moreover it has been crucial to learn to be open to the others and to be able to gain something from all the persons i met. Finally in every situation i learnt that i have to do my best if i really want to leave a mark.

The study is time consuming but not so difficult as it is sometimes mentioned. If you study regularly than it will not be a problem to pass. The university itself is well organized and student friendly.

It was an amazing experience. Everything you read about exchange semester is true! You will not be disappointed. The main advantage is that you get in contact with people from all over the world and that network could be very useful in future. In addition, you can find "best friends".

Maastricht is a small and lovely city. Do not expect the best nightlife, but expect to find a lovely student community! If you can afford it, live at the Browerswerg 100 guesthouse, you won't regret it :)

Course recommendations
ERASMUS students are considered as the regular students. They don't take into account for your grade the fact that exchange students can have some difficulties in english! So you have to work a lot to pass your courses

The university has implemented the problem base learning for most of its courses. It is very different and can be difficult for exchange student (lots of powerpoint presentation, research paper...)
