Valoración globalMy courses have all been really interesting, and the depth and breadth offered at Leiden is wonderful. There are many interdisciplinary links between courses, and the programme is structured in a way that really facilitates these. Professors are experts in their fields and are engaging and warm. There is a good amount of self-study, but this is manageable with good time management and self discipline. Both campuses in Leiden and The Hague are beautiful and centrally located with easy access to their respective cities, student facilities, and public transport.

It was definitely an experience of a lifetime, you'll absolutely love it! Just bring a very warm coat and a sturdy umbrella. It was a great experience!

“A trully valuable learning experience”

I had the chance to interact with a diverse student body, in an environment where professors are very knowledgeable and of the highest caliber. My programme allowed me to tailor course according to my own interests through electives. Aside from the core course of my MA specialization in Global Conflict, I was able to learn about strategy in the modern world, peacebuilding, non-state armed groups and a variety of other topics that have enhanced my understanding of the world and have altered the way I perceive it.

The weather is not the best one, there are however in-house activities that make up for it. People are friendly in general. Problems are difficult to resolve due to inflexibility and burocracy.
It's a potentially expensive country, but very central and with many travelling opportunities and good prices.

That the Dutch are not as tolerant as I had always dreamed, the low standards of academic performance, honors courses are unheard of, and that if you are over 25, you will be the grandpa/ma of the class and avoided at all costs.
If you are a mature student, do NOT waste your time!
The Dutch also don't really like Americans that much so if you feel like being accosted about everything that has happened in America as if you're responsible for it the few times they will dare to speak to you or respond to you, you'll love it.
It's not the liberal, open-minded paradise I had always dreamed of (don't let the soft drugs laws fool you)

I wanted to be completely honest so take what I say with a grain of salt. This country doesn't really believe in lifelong learning so I'm sure people under a certain age would love it here. I'm just in my 30s and had expected something else. It doesn't make this a bad university per se but just not the kind of place you should go if you are mature.
Maybe I have too much life experience and am too critical but this was a MAJOR disappointment.
