If you choose for a residence, you pay a lot more and it's more difficult to get to know people. The majority of local and foreign students share flats. IMPORTANT: there are flats enough (especially in september). Don't get stressed if you don't have a flat after 5 days. Don't take the first flat you can get. Don't be afraid to spend 3 days longer in your youth hostel; you'll probably find better/cheaper flat!

On campus is way too expensive, though the rooms are very nice. Also, you can find a better location by yourself.

I only visited the campus accomodation. The meals were included in the rent and the cost works out to be about 4000 pts per day. That´s about $40 Aus. Most of the people i knew there either were there with a scholarship, or had very wealthy parents.

You can learn a new language the easiest way if you live together with people from that country.

The university tries to arrange accomodations for foreign students even before you actually go there. Various options are offered (on-campus housing, shared accomodation etc.).
If you don't have a place to stay when you get there, you can go to a youth hostel first. After that you'll have no problems to find a place because people always look for others to share a place with.

Because this was the best way for me to get in touch with other people/students and to really live on my own, in a foreign country. I liked it.

You are on your own when it comes down to housing, but it is not that hard to find an appartment in Valencia, there is a lot of demand for flat-sharing.

We were allowed breakfast, which if you don´t like coffee isn´t much. The food was decent, but you are required to eat out one meal a day or not at all. For many of us, we ate out twice a day.

All the appartments and shared flats i have seen, don´t give any possiblity to complain, inspite of the prices which sometimes were a bit to high compared to the service you obtain.
