Since I am half-french, learning the language wasn't my motivation to go to Strasbourg. I simply wanted to study in France, and I wanted to find out whether or not Sciences Po is really a challenging institution.

At first it was hard to cope with your every day life in a different language but suddenly and without noticing it becomes more and more easy to live and study in another language.

I greatly improved my skills. The language course for Erasmus students at the beginning of the year was particularly well organized and certainly enabled me to follow lessons and take notes immediately. After a year I was able to write essays and take oral exams without problems and acquired a great deal of technical vocabulary besides everyday knowledge words.

My competency in the language improved drastically. At the start I simply didn't have the vocab that I needed. After the first couple of months however ease and fluency snowballed - and French people could stop speaking slowly and simply!

I had the chance to improve my french expecially the legal langauage but it was fun to get a bit af "argot"(slang) as well. I have now a rather good pronociattion and sometetimes french people don't notice that i'm foreigner
