the choice of food in paris is fantastic, so it is difficult not to spend a lot of money on food with all the good restaurants and the good supermarkets. transport was a bit more expensive, because i went with public transport and not my usual bike. phone was cheap because i was rarely home to phone and accomodation was cheap because i lived in a family-appartement.

I lived in Paris, which offers an exciting nightlife and it's more expensive overall to live there. That I spent more on telephonecalls depends on the fact that I was abroad and my family not, but also that the people mostlys uses mobile phones, and I got many new contacts.

Obviously most things were cheaper for me because I'm from the UK. The only thing that was more was the housing, but this was because it was a private company for accomodation; but it was worth it!

TIP: If you do not use the Euro in your home countrym be aware of the charges every time you use an ATM! Be careful to stick to a budget, even if things are cheaper for you in the host country.

Food is more expensive in France although there are some cheap supermarkets but they didn't seem very trustworthy in terms of quality of products
Nightlife is much more expensive (twice as much) as in Austria
For travelling I cannot say a lot; haven't really had the time to do it!
