In my opinion it kind of helped me in more than one language, once i lived in a residence and in the beggining only few of them would speak italian. I got my english more fluent and i've become quite familiar with the italian and also with spanish, although i tried not to speak because i'd confuse it a lot with italian.

First six months we had an Italian language course that helped us a lot, but also some courses was in Italian that forced me to study a lot of Italian and lessons in Italian language helped me to improve my Italian.

The language course organized by the university was not a very high quality. But it was easy to learn italian anyway because we only spoke italian with other international/local students.
