“University of Minho, the Department of Humanities (ILCH) from a foreign student perspective”
Polina S
Portugal, Master
Linguistique, 2020
Évaluation globale
I am doing a two-year Master Degree programme. My programme is supposed to be in English. However, there are very few classes in English (at least, in ILCH), so I have to take some classes in Portuguese, which is a bit of a problem for me as my Portuguese is very basic.
The general organisation of the academic process is not at the level I would have expected. Everything is done at the very last minutes, Academic Services work terrible (no support at all), the library is not really good.
On the bright side there are some great classes for digital humanities students (but for that you have to know Portuguese). The university language centre is quite good, so you can enrol into a Portuguese class. I also like the campus area because of its vibrant youth atmosphere and splendid vegetarian restaurants.

Points forts
beautiful view from Gualtar campus, vibrant atmosphere on the campus, good language centre, the cities itself (both Braga and Guimaraes)
Inconvénients
poor organisation, limited choice of classes in English, slow and ineffective bureaucracy

“Clara Reis - project management field (or similar)”
Clara R
Portugal,
Gestion d'entreprise, 2020
Évaluation globale
During my academic journey, in the degree in international business (2017-2020), I found my passion in the area of management, motivating me to pursue a master's degree in engineering project management (currently in dissertation development - 2nd/final year).
Previously, I had professional experience in several customer care and customer support jobs, including technical problem solving that provided me with a vision to meet client's needs and developed very useful skills in the field of communication.
More recently I worked as a VAT Accountant, in the department of compliance and consulting, contributing to ensure the alignment of the organization's strategy, preparing and submitting international declarations that provided me with technical, accounting and management skills.
During my life I have been part of international exchanges, non-governmental associativism and social causes that promoted empathy, communication and international involvement.
Currently I want to pursue a career in the field of management and economics, specifically in project management, contributing with knowledge through my background aligned with acquired skills while promoting my continuous improvement.

“Internship as a Master student”
Ana M
Portugal, Master

Évaluation globale
As a Master student, in the last year/semester you need to do an internship, whether on a company or on labs. Either way, University of Minho will help you find it. If you have an idea of your own, you can search for an internship by yourself, but if you need some help, you can talk freely to the Professors, explain your idea or what you want to get out of your internship and they will help find something whether in Portugal or abroad.
In my case, my Professors gave my class a list of internships we could apply to and I chose one to develop a new product in the labs of the university. Throughout the whole internship I could ask for help to any of my professors.

Points forts
What I enjoyed the most about my internship was the fact that i was on my own, if needed, i could ask my professors but above it all it gave me a bit of a job on labs like experience
Inconvénients
As I was on my own, i spent the time on my own accords, so i was lost sometimes where, if therewas someone with me, i wouldn't be
