The best places to go out at night are in Bairro Alto, but also in Alfama you can find little "Tascas" where local people sing "Fados", the traditional music from Portugal. The village you can't miss is Sintra, near Lisbon, with the most incredible palace I've ever seen and a castle with very nice views. In Lisbon everything is beautiful, but if you don't know all the "Miradouros" you can't say you know the city.

When I arrived I couldn't say a word.I had thought it was going to be easier being spanish, but I found that not only I wasn't able to say anything, but I couldn't even understand. This was the first month, then I started to understand easily and finally learnt to pronounce more or less as they do. I think, knowing other languages helped me a lot, especially french, because it sounds similar.

I am having a fantastic year. Just make sure that you are always prepared in any situation and make the most of the time. You are there to study, but also have fun. If you study too much, you're never going to have the chance to interact with new people.
