Here it is a short list of best places in Coimbra with a short description: 1)TROPICAL: placed in "praça da republica"; is a cafè where lots of students meet to get a coffee or a beer in almost every hour of the day till night. 2)0 Zé: placed in "rua da matematica", is a small place where peolpe meets usually from 22:00 to 02:00 to get some drinks before starting the nightlife. 3)VIA LATINA: placed near "praça da republica",is a disco with good dj's and goog vibrations.On friday electro music with some drum'n bass. 4)QUEIMA DAS FITAS: an event starting on the firt tuesday of may and absolutely to not miss.It's a sort of students festival during one week.The best day is the thursday when take place "o cortejo",a march of trukcs full of students (like carnival) that offer beers and many other alcoolics for free.The city get full of people,children and old men too.

the university of coimbra gives the opportunity to play all the kind of sports a guy likes. i was playing volleyball in the university team. during the night there's a zone called "praça da republica" where you can find a lot of discos and pubs. Coimbra is a Student's city drink and have fun is a must

There's the student association club which is open every night and a favourite spot of mine is a bar under the English bar - they serve some amazing caipirinha. Another nice hangout is the Jazz bar - no jazz to be heard but a really nice a relaxed atmosphere. There is a cafe called the Basking Robins that serves the most amazing hot chocolate in the world!

"Queima das Fitas" is a festival which usually takes place in May and which marks the end of the academic year and graduation. Bars, restaurants and cafes are scattered throughout the town and i've never had a bad experience! Portuguese coffee is without a doubt the best in the world.

All over Coimbra there are bars who receive statal subsidies so that everybody can have fun there (Dom Dinis, Buraco Negro, O.A.F, and of course the bar of the Associacao), a cold beer costs about 0,-60 € anywhere you go, there is plenty going on

There is bar which sells belgian beer called the piano negro, its very small, close to the Velha Cathedral, and there is another great bar just along the street from it too, located on the steps leading up to the square
