I met people in the youth hostel that were in the same situation. Lateron we rented an appartment together.

Some universities have exchange programs with Universidad del Salvador that include a study grant, housing and food in the cantine. The university housing in that case is for three students in well-located appartments throughout the city. Otherwise the university will only help you with addresses of hotels and youth hostels and you have to find housing yourself.

Living with fellow student on study abroad, and only them, I was not able to fully immerse myself in cultural experience.

Although this was a wonderful arrangement, due to the wonderful natures of both of my roommates, I still did not retain as much language and culture as I would have liked to because we were all from the states, all english speakers.
