Food, accommodation and alcohol is cheaper than in my country, and there are e.g. no entry fees to bars. I used my finnish mobile phone, so I don't know about the tarrifs. It is quite expensive to open an account, which you can do for free in my home country. It is difficult to evaluate the traveling costs, I never use the public transportation in my country as I have a car. But of course, when you go abroad you travel a lot and thus spend a lot!

Almost all the apartments are furnished. At the university no books are used, only notes from the lectures. No material is given by the professors, the students have to copy everything themselves. The university didn't provide access to computers as in my home country, so I used the internet cafes a lot. They are not too expensive. The bureaucracy of the offices surpriced me.

Food was less expensive in Spain than in Ireland. Mobile phones are more expensive to use in Spain. However, I used skpye, to phone landlines in UK at local rate, or also, there is the possibility to phone another skype contact and talk for unlimited time, free. The accommodation I stayed in was approximately equivilant of what I pay in Ireland. However, this seems to have been more expensive than the normal accommodaion in Spain, due to location and such factors. Spanish nightlife was cheaper in general. I spent more on Travel in Spain, as I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to get to know the country. Also, I very much enjoyed travelling with the mountaineering group as it was a great means of socialising with Spaniards.

You have to pay for services that are free or cheap at home, like laundry and internet. The food is much cheaper in Spain than the US, and the clubs had no cover charge, so going out was cheap. I traveled more than I do at home, so it was more expensive.

Just expect to pay for the services mentioned above. Find restaurants with "el menu del dia," which gives you a several course meal for around $5. Walk places instead of taking taxis. Use the Let's Go Guide for traveling to find cheap hostels. Take out large amounts of money at a time, because your bank charges you a fee each time you withdraw.

i spent more for my room, because i had chosen one, which was a bit mor expensive for convinient reasons. the going out area is much mor cheaper than in germany, especially you dont have to pay theentrance mostly. i did not travel a lot, for luck of money, but in comparison with germany, there are no possibility to tavel with spanish people. in germany already exist several organized pages(probably most known:www.mitfahrzentrale.de, where people offer possibilities to travel with from city to city, or they offer to come with somebody

Food expense was included in my rent and so I was provided room & food everyday of the week for 129euro. Using a cell phone there was more expensive because i used a SIM card (prepaid card) instead of having yearly plans like in the United States. Airflights within Europe are offered at much cheaper prices than in the U.S. The nightlife in Salamanca is considerably longer, which caused me to spend more money (and the exchange rate).

Just save your money before you get there, use ATM"s to retrive money it's cheaper then exchanging and safer to pull out only what you need a few times rather then to have all of the moeny at once. Also have a credit card available for other purchases that you will not use cash for like travel.
