Course here tend to be annual courses. As I only stayed for a semester, I had little choice, but managed to arrange my timetable so that the earliest class started at 11am and that I had Friday off. When you arrive, you get a booklet with all the courses on offer. You are not expected to decide straight away what you're gonna take for good. You have one month after the course starts to select your classes. My advice: take your time, don't rush in the choice as ou will have to sit an exam in that particular subject!! Make a list of the courses you're interested or think that would be valuable to your education and pop in to see what they are like. Classes are held in seminars so you can pop in for a couple of weeks and if you don't like it, don't take it. Some tutors take quite a lot into consideration that you're foreign and have some problems with the language and they will offer help when you need it. Others just expect you to follow the class just like everyone else. When doing presentations, most tutors put you in a group with one or more spaniards, so you'll get a better opportunity to get to know them and they will help you with your assignment. Which means you're more likely to get a better mark!! They are usually more than happy to help with anything from notes to finding books about the course.

More interaction with local students. As I stayed at the halls of residence, I had more contact with international students than with local spaniards. Most local students live in the city and most of them stay at their parents, so try to go out with them, get to know them. It's supposed to be an experience an exchange not only for you but also for them. Classes never start in time, usually the tutor turns up about 10-15 min after the supposed starting time, but that's normal over here.

Ok.. do international marketing if you are going into Empresariales at the Uni. Its pretty easy and they make special arrangements for Erasmus students! A lot of people go the the Lnaguage school, which is seperate from the uni, but if you are doing an exchange go for that module. Theres a course called "Espanol Empresarial" which runs each semester for Erasmus folk, its not actually "empresarial" its all grammar, but its an easy few credits. Other than that, try the Relaciones Laborales department, they have a few good modules.

The university seriously needs to consider its IT arrangements.. the library had 10 computers which were all pretty crap, and apparently, you couldnt browsr for books in the library either. Be warned.. the locals can get a bit obsessive about thier studing, and that is no exageration, it not healthy!

The Spanish course that I followed was generally very well organised and I feel that I did learn a lot. However, it was disappointing that I spent so much time with other international students rather than Spaniards.

It would have been interesting to have a choice of some modules on culture etc rather than all having to follow the same lessons.

I found that the Spanish system was too academic. As I was studied marketing, I will be pleased to have more case study and profesionals who would intervene during courses rather than to take notes and notes, to learn and to make the exam.

They shoud teach more as profesional than teachers. Spanish students doesn"t appear mature and ready to have their future jobs. It would be better to have more profesionals, conferences, and to oblige students to go there. On top of that, the level of language is very low in Spain. Spanish students don't have the same enthusiasm to go abroad as the danish people, english and french people. They should develop the courses of language, because nawadays its essencial to know three or more languages. In my universitt, they should bear in mind that they are educating futuring profesional and not to be so academic.
