It is difficult to understand the local accent. If people do an effort (it is rare), it is a lot easier to understand and communicate.

The beginning was sometimes harsh, the andalusian accent is not the easiest one, but in the end it was pretty good!

For a person speaking Italian, it is not a very hard task to learn Spanish. Anyway one needs time to learn it well.
