At home I do not live in the city so there is no real nightlife and everything is cheaper in general. I also took advantage of being situated in Europe and traveled a lot to other countries including Morocco, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, England, and France.

It is a good idea to take large sums of money out from a cash machine at a time as you are likely to have large International funds request fees.

To save money I suggest to eat at home and not around town because your host families food is probably better than that in town.

Spain is cheap, especially in food, clothes, and lodging. Trains are expensive, but buses are not bad. Cabs are cheaper too.

Food and housing were included in my initial costs for the program. I did not use the telephone nearly as much as I do at home therefore costs were lower. Finally, travel was more expensive because I traveled much more than I would have at home.

If you plan to travel a lot it will save you money to buy a Eurail pass. As well, for filling but cheap food there are low-cost tapas and bocadillas.
