Study in Spain is very "theoric", it requires a lot of by heart learning

The courses offered at Complutense are diverse enough and well-anchored on international standards.

I would say that as much as the academe wants to enhance their standard, western students should arrest their tendency to go lax on their studies. Not everybody is given the opportunity to have a meaningful student life. Theirs is a sought-after thing in developing countries.

The anthropology program was not as developed at the Complutense as at my home university and you have limited course offerings. It is a great place to study Arabic or Jewish mysticism, but not so great to study Tibetan Buddhism for example. Spain has strong ties to Latin America and North Africa, so perhaps if you are interested in Asia it would not be the best school to study at.

I wouldn't suggest any improvements, but be aware that the system of education will most likely be very different from what you are used to. It took me a while to get used to the teaching style and learn how to take notes in Spain. However, I found Spanish teachers to be extremely flexible and willing to help foreign students, so don't be afraid to ask for help. They really want you to succeed and several teachers let me do final projects in lieu of a final exam in compensation for my studying in a foreign language. Other foreign students I know received similar arrangements and help.

I would recommend taking Spanish Literature and Spanish Grammar classes as they helped me most improve my speaking and comprehension abilities.

I would suggest that there were more courses focused solely on learning about the history and culture of Spain in a classroom setting.

It's a good idea to visit classes if you can before you decide what to take. The most important aspect is the professor. There are great teachers if you look for them but there are also some that aren't so good or enthusiastic and are not very helpful to international students who may struggle a bit with the language.
