I was hoping to upgrade my knowledge in French, but as I studied and communicated with the other students in English, it didn't really actualise.

Even though the classes were taught in English interacting with the locals was almost impossible without the knowledge of French. Contrary to the majority of the French citizrns, the Toulousains are very friendly. They love to correct you, and if they speak a bit of English they are more than eager to chat.
