I wish I had known...
Although it's easy to make friends, it's difficult to make friendship with more depth, despite Thai students knowing English. BMIR's administration did not seem to care either way about exchange students. Classes are too long, and teachers, little quality and too critical. Thai educational system is very poor.

If you are coming to Thailand, make sure that you arrange your schedule "light". Do NOT expect too much out of administration, and academics. Advanced classes will be a waste of time and leave you frustrated. If you come to an exchange for Thailand, come for Thailand, not for educational quality of Thammasat because you will be disappointed.

Air Asia offers cheap tickets to neighboring countries. Bangkok is a cheap city according to European standards. If you are working with other students, try and be humble, otherwise you will make them "lose face" -- unfortunately, this requires dumbing yourself down for most classes.
Do NOT come if you are looking for good education. DO come if you want to travel, but pick easy classes otherwise you will be graded harshly.

Travel before and after you go and whenever possible. Thailand and region is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
