i spent less in accommodation and food than at home because i was living with my own family, who supplied me with everything.. the nightlife was more expensive because of the way the bars are set up in mexico, so i ended up spending a little more than usual

I wish I had known...
strangely enough, i wish i would have known what the typical dress was for a student, that was one of the biggest surprises, to find that although it was extremely hot, nobody wore shorts, everyone seemed dressed up for school, something quite different from my university!!!

overall i had a wonderful time. of course like anything there are things that frusterate you but if you can keep your mind open, you really do end up learning a lot about the people around you, their cultural, and most of all, yourself. the only tip i would give is pack light!

i decided to go to mexico because that is where my family is from but i am not fluent in the language.. after being there for only 6 weeks i became comfortable in most situations. the classes helped a lot because there was a lot of discussion and practice of conversation that i could apply outside of school

one of the favorite places for us to go was Bar Rio, a great bar that people our age and up were at, had a great feel to it... the repelling club and salsa classes are not to be missed, i had an incredible time doing both, the mexican students were nothing but accomodating and friendly and really welcomed us into their circle

i happened to be living with my aunt and uncle so the experience was quite different... when i was not in school i was doing "family things" so the accomodation didnt really have a lot to do with the university
