Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Obviously it's a great way to meet other students, but if I was going back I would try to arrange a single room. While the single blocks are on the edge of the campus and involve a little walk, they're nearer to shops etc and might just give you some space since the campus is quite small!

My housing - University Inn - was good, but only because it was formerly a motel and had mainly junior/senior/exchange students. Other housing - especially Funk and Racey - seemed loud and cramped and generally quite chaotic, though lots of fun because of it.

Accomodation was not that bad. It's the best way to meet students, and to be involved in university activities.

Everybody knows that food in the US is not very tasty. We had a lot of choice at the cafeteria but the quality was not excellent.
To my mind the location was rather good. One hour by car from Washington DC, and 5 hours from New York.
Shenandoah university is specialised in arts, so it was easy to see shows, representations etc.
A good computer room, which is very useful for foreign students who don't have their own computer.

Academic
Course recommendations
Professors Winn and Sample offered great classes. Generally the junior/senior level classes are really worth doing because they're more interesting. Advanced Management Theory and Practice was also fantastic - weekly field trips was a real highlight!

I missed out on writing for much of the year since this wasn't really a feature of most of the classes.

Overall
I wish I had known...
If you can afford you to travel. just rent a car and discover other states...to get a more general view of what really are the United States.
I had the chance to visit all the east cost, from the Keys to Canada...and I learned a lot.

Lol... Sheetz is always a good place to grab some food or supplies. There are several cinemas right beside the campus and several pretty good places to eat and hang-out. Walking into Winchester also opens up some other options though not really any clubs or bars. While everything is mainly chains, if you're with friends it's all good.

Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I improved very quickly my english.
I was glad to have good teachers who helped me when I had some difficulties of understanding.
Especially I had my teacher of contempory issues in management was from Texas and at the beginnig, I couldn't understand any word of what he was saying....He tried to slow down for the foreign students, which was very nice to him.
We were all the time in contact with students (of our class) and teachers by emails. The best and fastest way to communicate.
