Housing
Type of housing: dorm
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because I like cooking and eating home-made and healthy food, so I need a kitchen!

The dorms are nothing special and very expensive. What I don't like is that all the apartments available for the students are not furnished, there is not even light, you have to bring your own lamp if you want to have some light! and this is not convenient for an international student who arrives in Columbus on a plane, with a couple of suitcases but nothing more (for sure not a lamp!). So for an international student, moving to an apartment also means buying some basic furniture like a mattress, a lamp, a little table etc., and it is not cheap!

Very easy to find private accomodation on campus. I wouldnt suggest taking a room from the university, first they are very expensive and second not very nice.

I would like to have my separate room, I don't mind to have housemates. I think it helps to make more friends.

I had 3 very good roommates and it was the best way for me to practice my English, the on-campus housing is mostly full of undergraduates (17 to 20 years old) and they can be very rude and noisy. I was also able to do my own cooking.

My landlady was the nicest American I ever met and made everything to make me and my other roomates enjoy the place. I love living here, even though I find the city is not as cosmopolite as New York or Washington.
