Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because you have more space, more intimacy, more quietness and usually it is cheaper if you share the apartment (you can even get some aid from the governtment). The room in the residence was not bad at all. The problem is that it is good mainly for party-time. There is too much noise (noisy neighbours)and some of your mates, do not worry too much about cleaning in the shared areas (kitchen, toilettes...). Also influenced my decision the fact that I had the chance to live with someone who I knew before. What I mean is that a room on a campus is the best way to meet people for a foreign student (and that is what you need when you have just arrived) and that maybe if I would not had the chance to share the apartment with an acquaintance of mine, I would have stayed there. There is more companionship, and atmosphere is great.

I was in Teknisk Kollegium till December, then I moved to Carl Nielsen Kollegiet, where I have had a delightful time. Rooms and apartments supplied by university are on the average really good. You have plenty of facilities, and buildings are in good condition. The only fault could be that they are a little bit expensive, although here in Denmark, everything is expensive. But for example, rules like having to warn that you are leaving 6 weeks before the date and the rule of having to pay 2 additional weeks when leaving, have as a result that when you are moving, you usually have to add a big expense to the yet expensive rent. 'H.C.Ø'. and 'Teknisk' are good. Good location, lots of people, good times and parties... 'Carl Nielsen Kollegiet' is different. More quiet and more study atmosphere. 'Rasmus Rask' is far from anywhere. It depends on what you are searching for and on your quietness standards and life style.

The university does give you directions and forms to apply for accomodation and whatever happens is between you and the accomodation office which is independent of the university.

The student residence where I was living was well located (in the city and near the university) and full of exchange students from all around the world. It was really friendly.

Living with lots of students is always OK, because you get very quick contact to others.
